Review and amend the Communications Act 2003 and the Online Safety Act 2023 to hold social media platforms to the same standards of "Due Accuracy" and "Due Impartiality" as mainstream news broadcasters.
Mainstream news must follow Ofcom’s rules on "due accuracy" and "impartiality." Social media platforms are not defined as publishers which can create a loophole used to spread misinformation. Amend the Communications Act 2003 and Online Safety Act to hold platforms liable when their algorithms promote unverified, biased, or harmful "news" content.
