Require and fund more safe housing and mental health support for vulnerable prisoners on release, in order to stop the release of mentally ill and high-risk prisoners becoming homeless and without support.
It should be a statutory requirement to provide safe accommodation and mental health care to prisoners who leave jail. Release plans should also be created for prisoners before their release date. We believe the Government must ensure that vulnerable prisoners who are released receive safe accommodation, mental health care, addiction support and crisis intervention before release.
