Milestones

Require devices containing any intimate or abusive content linked to the victims of domestic abuse or revenge porn offences to be permanently kept by police or professionally wiped before they are returned, helping protect victims from ongoing fear, trauma, and exploitation and control.

This petition calls for stronger legal protections for victims of domestic abuse and intimate image abuse (“revenge porn”). Devices proven to contain any intimate or abusive content linked to the victim of abuse offences should either be permanently retained by authorities or professionally wiped before return. Victims should not have to live in fear that offenders may still possess exploitative intimate material after conviction. The law must help prevent ongoing coercion, intimidation, and emotional harm.
