We believe foster carers deserve to be paid fairly at the basic minimum wage per hour at least. Foster carers work 24 hours a day for under £2 an hour on the current allowance. We think it’s a disgrace.

The allowance foster carers receive means that they are paid under £2 per hour for 24hour a day care. Foster carers are therapists, comforters and care givers to children. The children that come into their care are often severely traumatised and require around the clock care. We believe that the very least they deserve is the national minimum wage for the job they do which will also mean there will be more carers who can afford to help the children of our future.
