I want the Government to ban smoking around bus stops. I feel it is unfair that one person’s smoking can affect and inconvenience everyone who needs to use public transport, including children.

Second-hand smoke is highly toxic and contains numerous cancer causing chemicals. Decades of evidence show that passive smoking increases a non smoker’s risk of heart disease and stroke. Bus stops are tight, crowded spaces where commuters, children, and people with asthma wait for transport. I believe that being forced to inhale harmful toxins from second hand smoke at bus stops is an unnecessary and avoidable health risk. Smoking simply does not belong in these confined public areas.
