Fund the installation and maintenance of litter cameras on Highway Agency-maintained roads to catch and fine people littering. This could change people’s behaviours, reduce government costs, protect nature, and raise revenue through fines.
We believe something needs to change and that our highways are an embarrassment. Litter has built up along many of our roads, which we feel is making our country look like a rubbish dump. Having litter cameras on roads maintained by the Highway Agency could discourage people from littering on country roads. We believe we need incremental fines for each offence, with the owner of the car being responsible.
