Cap wheelchair-accessible taxis cost at the same rate as a standard taxi for the same journey. We also call on the Government to provide funding to ensure access to wheelchair-accessible taxis is improved so disabled people can access taxis at all times, including evenings and nights.
As a wheelchair user, I often have to pay more for accessible taxis and must pre-book, especially at night, due to limited availability. This is not just a problem in my area and I am not the only person who struggles with this. Wheelchair users across the UK face higher costs and reduced freedom because accessible transport is limited. Transport should be fair, affordable and available to all. The Government should act to address this inequality.
