International students who paid UK Student visa fees from Autumn 2023 onwards were overcharged £127-£161, confirmed by a House of Lords Committee. The Home Office's own refunds policy allows claims within 5 years but affected students have never been officially notified.

We are calling on the Government to review which students were affected, notify them all and make the refund process clear and accessible. Due to a drafting error in law, international students who paid UK Student visa fees from Autumn 2023 onwards were overcharged - by £127 or £161. This was confirmed by the House of Lords Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee. The Home Office's own refunds policy allows claims within 5 years, yet affected students have never been officially notified.
