We call on the UK Government to mandate statutory licensing for installing, servicing, or sweeping solid fuel appliances, mirroring the Gas Safe Register.

We are concerned that unregulated "cowboy" operators can pose severe carbon monoxide and fire risks, while broken "sign-off" loopholes in current Competent Person Schemes can be exploited. We believe voluntary associations fail to enforce safety and resist reform. For public safety, we want those who work with solid fuel burners to be legally regulated like gas and oil with strict, binding protocols.
