My petition is for the government to require swimming pools to open to all during heatwaves and for the government to fund free access to allow people to swim safely for free to prevent deaths from open water.

We see an increased number of deaths from people swimming in open water (rivers, reservoirs and lakes) during heatwaves. We ask the government to require swimming pools to open to the public during heatwaves to allow them stay cool and swim in a safe environment monitored closely by lifeguards. The Government should fund this. We think this could reduce unnecessary deaths caused by open water and reduce the amount of incidents caused.
