Require clear labelling where natural rubber latex is used in food packaging materials, including packaging seals and cold-seal adhesives, so consumers with severe latex allergy can make informed choices.
People with severe latex allergy, including anaphylaxis, currently cannot identify whether food packaging contains natural rubber latex in cold-seal adhesives or packaging seals. Clear labelling would avoid life-threatening exposure/anaphylactic reactions and allow consumers to make informed choices to prevent these outcomes. Products such as chocolates, snacks and ice creams currently use these materials without disclosure. Please help us to make a hidden risk visible before a fatality occurs.
