Currently there is no treatment for Lipoedema or Lymphoedema available within the NHS. We believe we need more funding for training and for more specialists in all parts of the country, along with the treatments such as liposuction to be funded on the NHS
Lipoedema is a chronic, progressive condition that is often misdiagnosed as obesity, leading to delayed care and worsening symptoms. Access to Lymphoedema clinics currently depends on location, forcing many patients to self-fund essential treatment such as liposuction as this is not available on the NHS. We believe enhanced funding for early diagnosis and appropriate NHS care would improve quality of life and reduce long-term costs.
