To establish an independent Veterinary Ombudsman to provide a fair, impartial system for handling complaints about veterinary care. The service should be able to investigate cases, make binding decisions, and ensure accountability across all vet practices.
Many pet owners feel there is no fully independent and effective way to raise concerns about veterinary care. Complaints are often handled by the same practice or limited mediation processes, and the regulator does not provide binding decisions or resolve individual disputes. This can leave owners feeling unheard and without confidence in the outcome. An independent Veterinary Ombudsman would provide impartial investigation, fair decisions, and greater transparency and accountability.
