We urge Parliament to protect face-to-face Parliament outreach for adults. We believe these programmes improve political literacy, inclusion, and democratic engagement—especially for those who missed civic education. We feel cutting them is short-sighted; they should be expanded, not reduced.
We believe Parliament outreach tackles low political literacy across the UK. Many lack basic understanding of politics, voting rights, and engagement. In Further Education, we feel this gap is clear, with learners often excluded. In-person sessions provide accessible, trusted learning digital methods can’t match. At a time of high disengagement and possible votes at 16, we believe cuts should be paused and reviewed through consultation to assess their impact.
