Milestones

Require employers to respond to all job applicants within a set timeframe, and to include salary or salary range in all job adverts. Applicants often invest significant time applying, and we think the least they deserve is a reply and transparent pay information from the outset.

In our experience some employers “ghost” applicants and hide salaries behind vague terms like "competitive" or "DOE", which in our view wastes job seekers' time and causing real financial stress. We therefore call on the Government to legislate two minimum standards: 1- Employers must notify all applicants of the outcome within a defined timeframe. 2- All job adverts must include a salary or salary range. The EU Pay Transparency Directive requires this from June 2026. The UK must not fall behind.
