Milestones

We urge the UK Government to raise concerns about human rights, political freedoms and due process, including prolonged detention without trial, with the Bangladesh Government and encourage fair judicial processes there.

Bangladesh is a Commonwealth country with strong diplomatic ties to the UK and a British-Bangladeshi population in the UK exceeding 800,000. Since the political transition of 2024, concerns have been raised regarding prolonged detention, due process and political freedoms. We believe the Government should act on the basis of these concerns and encourage respect for human rights and fair justice in Bangladesh.
