BV has been associated with increased risks of pregnancy complications, including preterm birth. earlier identification and treatment of BV may help reduce avoidable pregnancy loss and improve outcomes for mothers and babies.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common condition that can occur during pregnancy and has been associated with an increased risk of pregnancy complications, including infection and preterm birth. Current NHS guidance does not recommend routine screening for all pregnant women. We want the Government to fund routine BV screening during pregnancy, to help identify and treat infections earlier and improve outcomes for mothers and babies.
