We feel the National Security Act 2023 lacks clear provisions to hold online creators accountable for sharing harmful information from foreign state actors. We call for the law to be reviewed to improve measures to tackle online creators spreading foreign state content for profit or influence.

We urge the Government to ensure the review clarifies and strengthens enforcement of the National Security Act 2023 against UK-based online creators sharing hostile foreign material. We believe the law's focus on state linked groups overlooks individuals profiteering from or spreading foreign propaganda, especially on unauthorised platforms. A full review could facilitate investigations into commentators and ensure transparency and legal accountability for those profiting from foreign misinformation.
