We call on the UK Government to introduce mandatory ID verification and a daily limit of 5 scratch cards per individual to reduce gambling-related harm and promote responsible play.

Every year, thousands of people struggle with gambling addiction, and scratch cards are often seen as a harmless entry point. We want to: - reduce excessive gambling and protect vulnerable adults and young people - make it harder for people to buy unlimited quantities - encourage responsible gambling while allowing adults to purchase scratch cards in moderation. Just as ID is required for many age-restricted products, a properly age-monitored system could we believe promote safer gambling and reduce financial harm, while maintaining access for those who gamble responsibly.
