Milestones

Require an independent audit of disabled workforce representation, retention, and progression as a condition of retaining Disability Confident accreditation, with status revoked where unmet. Require DWP to report audit outcomes to Parliament. Embed both in the Disability Confident scheme overhaul.

The Government's Reform Delivery Plan (2025 to 2026) concedes the Disability Confident scheme has lacked accountability, transparency, and measurable outcomes. The badge carries reputational value with no obligation to prove it is earned. There should be an independent audit of Disability Confident employers, with status revoked where conditions are not met. The audit should be a part of the scheme overhaul. The Government should propagate representation of disabled people in the workforce.
