I believe that an additional £3 billion investment into the Defence Housing Strategy 2025 would effectively cover the cost of many maintenance issues and tackle problems such as damp, mould and asbestos, vacancy backlog in defence housing, HVAC malfunction, and improper contractor performance.

The government could tackle these issues by allocating £1.05 billion to Contamination issues and using the money to conduct permanent repairs with Amey and VIVO and upgrade insulation. The Vacancy Backlog Issue with £900m could prioritise longest-empty military properties for emergency restoration and modernising amenities. HVAC appliances could be improved with £600m with green energy upgrades, and Contractor Performance with £450m to introduce financial penalties and regular inspections.
