Create a regulated national register of tenants found by courts or tribunals to have committed serious tenancy misconduct, in order to protect landlords while ensuring tenant rights, appeals, and fair data protection are safeguarded.
We call for a fair national register of serious tenancy misconduct where cases have been proven by courts or tribunals. It would include issues such as serious property damage, significant rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, illegal activity, or major tenancy breaches. The register could help landlords make informed decisions while protecting tenants through appeals, legal checks, and privacy safeguards. It aims to improve accountability and fairness in the rental sector.
