Introduce legislation to prohibit trades unions from donating funds to political parties, directly or indirectly. Unions represent members with a wide range of political views, yet their collective funds are often used to support a single political party.
We believe trades unions funding political parties creates an imbalance in political financing and risks giving disproportionate influence to organisations that are not politically neutral. We feel that preventing unions from funding political parties would help ensure fairer, more transparent and more balanced political competition, strengthen public confidence in the independence of both unions and the democratic process.
