Make it mandatory for hospitals to alert social services when a child visits any A&E department in England more than once with a serious injury in the first 6 months of an adoption placement. A full explanation and medical review must then be conducted by social services.
In our view this is about safeguarding children who have been recently adopted, and to ensure that hospitals share information not only with each other but with social services too. We think it’s not only about sharing information but also ensuring that an appropriate follow up and investigation is conducted too.
