Require all police forces to provide approved Road Traffic Collision (RTC) helmets to frontline officers. Police are often first on scene at collisions, managing hazards and creating safe working areas, but are not routinely issued specialist head protection.
Police officers are frequently the first emergency service to arrive at road traffic collisions. They manage traffic, preserve life and create a safe working environment for fire and ambulance crews. Despite facing risks from moving vehicles, debris and secondary collisions, officers are not routinely issued RTC helmets. We believe all frontline officers who may attend road-related incidents should be provided with suitable, approved RTC head protection.
