Milestones

We want the government to establish a statutory maximum classroom temperature and provide ring-fenced grants to fund air conditioning in schools that breach this limit. We are concerned that schools cannot afford this vital safety equipment without central funding.

We believe classrooms are dangerously hot. Combined with warm nights at home causing sleep loss, children cannot concentrate - just as crucial exams occur in peak summer. Schools cannot fix this; their budgets cannot cover capital costs like AC. Many MPs and office workers enjoy climate-controlled environments, yet children are left baking. The Government must legislate a strict maximum heat cap and provide central funding to enforce it.
