We call on the Government to require the police to notify the parents of a person over 18 if that person is known to have autism or ADHD, have mental health issues, or if they suspect that the person has diminished mental capacity.

We believe that people over 18 with additional needs do not have the mental capacity to speak for themselves, especially if in a mental health crisis, and that they are being majorly let down when their parents are not allowed to liaise with them because they are over 18. We therefore think the Government should introduce a requirement for the police to notify the parents in such cases so that parents can speak to services involved to help their child.
