We call on the UK Government and Parliament to introduce a mandatory maximum temperature for schools and care homes to protect children, elderly people, and vulnerable individuals during extreme heatwaves.

Extreme heat is becoming more frequent and intense, creating unsafe conditions in schools and care homes. Children, elderly people, and vulnerable individuals are at greater risk from high temperatures, which can affect health, concentration, and wellbeing. We are calling for clear statutory standards requiring indoor temperatures in care homes and schools to be kept below a specified safe level.
