The Government must introduce regulations to prohibit filtering or lane-splitting by 2- or 3-wheeled vehicles, along with clear liability rules, to deal with such vehicles that often navigate aggressively between lanes of moving or stationary traffic.
Weaving between traffic can create safety hazards and financial burdens, sometimes causing real property damage. Riders squeezing through narrow gaps can regularly clip mirrors and scratch or dent bodywork. Because they can easily flee, riders can often leave the scene immediately, leaving motorists with expensive repair bills and insurance deductibles. Sudden overtaking from blind spots also leads to drivers constantly reacting to unpredictable hazards.
