Milestones

Introduce a national Climate Resilient Schools Programme to ensure no child's education is disrupted by heatwaves, flooding or other extreme weather by funding school retrofits, resilience measures, adaptation planning and staff training.

Children should not lose learning because school buildings cannot cope with increasingly frequent heatwaves, flooding or other extreme weather. Many schools lack adequate cooling, ventilation and flood resilience. We call on the Government to fund school retrofits, climate adaptation plans, resilience training and safe learning standards so every child can access uninterrupted, safe education regardless of the weather.
