Milestones

Require all new build homes, and current homes for vulnerable people, to include energy-efficient air conditioning and heating systems. Update building regulations to ensure homes remain safe during increasingly frequent extreme heat and cold caused by climate change.

Require all new build homes and homes intended for vulnerable people to be fitted with energy-efficient air conditioning and heating systems that provide safe indoor temperatures throughout the year. Climate change is causing increasingly frequent and intense heatwaves across the UK. Excessive indoor temperatures can lead to serious health problems, hospital admissions and preventable deaths, particularly among older people, disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.
