Individuals who work and contribute to the UK on a Skilled Worker Visa and subsequently marry a British Citizen before moving to a Family Visa should be eligible to combine the time spent on these two visas together when counting ‘time’ toward ILR.

In our view individuals travel to the UK with the view of joining the community and integrating into the British way of life, whilst working and paying for a Skilled Worker Visa. In the circumstances where a person then marries a British Citizen and moves to a Family visa, we think these two visas should count together toward Indefinite Leave to Remain. We think spouses of British Citizens should be granted additional rights, like using time spent on previous visas to count towards ILR.
