We want the Government to make public use of privately owned electric scooters legal for over 18s wearing a helmet.
We see e-bikes being allowed in public and think e-scooters should be allowed too. E-scooters are an environmentally friendly way of getting around. I agree their use needs to be regulated and that's why I think their use should be restricted to over 18s and a helmet should be worn for safety reasons. We feel that the fact that e-scooters hired from the local council are allowed in certain areas but not privately owned ones ridiculous. We want the Government to allow people the right to travel around their local area using their own e-scooters safely – reducing traffic on the roads could be a bonus.
