Milestones

We want the Government to require local authorities to prioritise Educational Psychologist appointments for children with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) during the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) process, so they can access timely assessments and the support needed.

EBSA can severely affect a child’s mental health, education and wellbeing, while placing emotional and financial strain on families. Delays in Educational Psychologist assessments during the EHCNA process leave many children without support. As a result, they can fall behind academically, become isolated, and experience worsening mental health. We believe children with EBSA should be prioritised.
