Provide a pathway to permanent settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain) for Ukrainians under humanitarian schemes who are already contributing to the UK economy but are forced to live in uncertainty for almost 5 years many with no place to return due to destroyed homes or hostile territory occupation
Over 200,000 Ukrainians live in the UK, many of whom are employed, and with children who often are deeply rooted in local schools and colleges. While we understand the Government’s respect for the Ukrainian government's repatriation desire, we think displaced people should be treated with dignity and choice, not as resources to be automatically returned. In our view this uncertainty inflicts severe distress. Aligning with European nations offering residency paths, we respectfully urge the Government to provide a structured route to settlement.
