We want the Government to review and update the assessment and assignment of Blue Badge holders in order to ensure an in- person check as part of the process.

The current Blue Badge assessment does not have an in-person check as part of the process. Currently, a badge can be assigned to someone with a mental health disorder, while someone with severe mobility and balance issues might not receive one, as they can dress and bathe themselves as part of the tick box check list. We believe there needs to be visual, in-person checks so people can be better assessed in respect of need to determine fairer badge allocation. We don’t 'believe the current checklist by itself is fit for purpose.
