Introduce consumer rights to retain purchased digital material & prevent platforms from removing access to it after store closures by requiring protection of digital accounts. We also call for a statutory refund rights, when what in our view us unfair terms, remove paid content without compensation.
Digital purchases such as games, films, TV shows, e-books and software can be removed because of licensing disputes, store closures or account deletion, even after consumers have paid for them. We call on the UK Government to strengthen consumer rights by protecting purchased digital content, guaranteeing continued access where possible, introducing fair statutory refund rights, protecting digital accounts, and preventing unfair contract terms.
