Fund reconstructive skin removal surgery on the NHS for patients who have achieved substantial weight loss and are suffering significant physical or psychological harm because of excess skin.
Excess skin after major weight loss can cause significant physical and psychological harm, including reduced mobility, skin problems, anxiety, low self-esteem and social isolation. Research shows body-contouring surgery can improve quality of life and wellbeing. Current NHS access is inconsistent and often depends on where a person lives. We believe recovery from obesity should include access to reconstructive surgery when excess skin causes significant harm.
