We want the Government to ensure by law that every time a living cat or dog goes to the vet regardless of what the appointment is for they must scan the animal to a check whether it has been properly chipped and whether the pet is recorded as lost or stolen.

It is reported that up to 680 pets are lost or stolen every day in the UK. All cats and dogs are legally meant to be chipped now but we cannot see the point of the chip if vets don’t check the chip on every visit. This petition is to ensure that every animal is scanned every time they are taken to the vets to make sure there is no stolen or lost flag on the chip and help put an end to animal trafficking and theft and make it easier to reunite lost pets with owners.
