We call on the Government to include the Endocannabinoid System in the GCSE/A-level curriculum. We believe that this vital system is missing from the curriculum, leaving students completely unaware of how diet can drive chronic disease.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) regulates mood, sleep, appetite, and immunity, yet is absent from UK biology lessons. Equally missing is how omega-6/omega-3 imbalance can disrupt ECS signalling fuelling chronic inflammation and disease. We call on the Government to review the science curriculum and make ECS biology and omega balance required topics at GCSE and A-level, with exam boards updating specs and teacher training. Students should learn what anandamide is and how to optimise its signalling.
