Milestones

Fund urgent breast cancer referrals for any patient presenting breast cancer symptoms to a GP and ensure they are automatically put on the urgent referral pathway, regardless of their age or family history.

Current GP guidelines restrict fast-track breast cancer referrals by age, which can leave younger patients struggling for urgent care. Yet, it is reported that around 2,500 UK women aged 40 & under are diagnosed annually, along with 400 men. Around 85% of patients have no family history, and it is the leading cause of death in women under 50. We believe we must remove these restrictive barriers so everyone presenting with potential breast cancer symptoms gets immediate, life-saving care.
