We call on the Government to launch a review into updating health and safety laws to ensure they specifically address and protect workers who spend much of their day in vehicles from excessive heat.
We believe many proposals made by people on workplace temperatures do not clearly cover workers whose workplace is a vehicle. Millions of postal workers, delivery drivers, healthcare staff, utility engineers and others spend much of their day in vehicle cabs, where temperatures can greatly exceed those outside. The Government should update health and safety legislation and statutory guidance so that it explicitly addresses how employers of vehicle workers should assess and manage heat risks in workplace vehicles.
