Stop the mandatory fitting of any cameras in new cars and vans. We call on the Government to reject all proposals requiring cameras (driver-facing or otherwise) in new vehicles and focus instead on non-intrusive road safety measures that respect civil liberties.

The Government is consulting on mandating driver monitoring cameras in new vehicles that track eye movement, head position and behaviour. Similar rules apply in the EU. We believe this is unacceptable surveillance. It invades privacy and has insufficient proven safety benefits. We urge the Government to reject all camera mandates and focus on proportionate, non-intrusive road safety measures that respect civil liberties and driver freedom.
