Make Tragedy Chanting a specific criminal offence in arenas, stadiums and public places. It should also be a specific criminal offence to post videos, images or text mocking tragedies online. Give the police and CPS the powers needed to prosecute this vile behaviour.
It's not okay in society, so why is it okay when wearing a football shirt or online. The mocking of death, or Tragedy Chanting, can contribute to the deaths of survivors of disasters. No survivor of any disaster should ever have their trauma weaponised against them. I am a Hillsborough survivor, nearly driven to suicide by comments made by strangers online, and those close to me. It is not acceptable.
