Require by law all electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPCs) used on public roads to be registered and insured to improve accountability, support police enforcement, protect victims of collisions and help reduce dangerous and antisocial use. This rule already applies to e-scooters and most e-bikes.
We call on the UK Government to require all EAPCs used on public roads to be registered and insured. We believe this would improve accountability, help police identify offenders, protect victims through insurance, and help reduce dangerous and antisocial use, making roads and communities safer for everyone.
