We want 16 and 17 year olds to be made eligible for the same child train fare discounts as those aged 5-15, and train operators required to provide them with these discounts, without the need to purchase a railcard to continue receiving child discounts.

16 to 17 year olds do not automatically receive the same child train fare discounts as those aged 5-15. This results in additional costs even though most 16 and 17 year olds still go to some form of education. This could be sixth form, college or something else but in any case many students will still have to use public transport to get there, and some of them trains, but now the costs are higher for them. We aim to have them receiving the same child train fare discounts.
