I urge the UK Government to reclassify ketamine from a Class B to a Class A controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 due to the increasing harm it is causing to individuals, families and communities.
I also call for stronger penalties for supply, increased funding for addiction treatment, nationwide education and awareness campaigns, and more research into ketamine-related deaths and long-term health harms. These measures could help protect lives and tackle the growing impact of ketamine misuse across the UK. I believe ketamine should be a Class A drug because of the long lasting effects this causes as well as the amount of deaths that are rising.
