Make Non-Molestation Orders lifetime once granted, covering aliases, online identities and proxy threats. Require police to investigate credible third-party evidence of breaches and prevent cases being closed solely because a frightened victim cannot or will not report.
Fixed-term orders can leave victims vulnerable when protection expires. Any breach should result in immediate arrest and detention pending investigation and court consideration. Repeated, deliberate or calculated breaches should lead to prosecution and custodial sentences. Victims should not repeatedly relive abuse in court to renew protection.
