Legislate to require insurers to verify animal boarding licences before issuing or renewing insurance cover for animal boarding businesses. Insurers should be responsible for checking licences are valid, current and relevant to the activity being insured.
Many businesses, including animal boarding providers, are legally required to hold certain licences to operate. However, insurers can issue or renew policies without verifying that the licence exists, is current or covers the activity being insured. We believe insurers should be required to verify legally required animal boarding licences before issuing or renewing insurance cover, to help protect consumers, animals and the public from unlicensed operators.
