We call on the Government to provide funding to ensure primary schools in England provide curriculum-aligned textbooks for core subjects. Textbooks help support structured learning, independent study, home learning and equal access, while complementing—not replacing—teachers and digital resources.

Many children with SEND benefit from routine, repetition and consistent learning resources. We call on the Government to provide funding to ensure all primary schools provide curriculum-aligned textbooks alongside existing teaching. Textbooks can help pupils revisit learning at their own pace and support parents at home. They could reduce anxiety caused by fragmented resources and help promote equal access to education. We believe they can also encourage independence, improve confidence and provide a familiar resource throughout the school year.
